Bringing Ceroc to New Zealand

Angelique Meyer - 1986

Angelique was in London in the early 1980s. Around 1984 she attended a Ceroc class taught by Janie Elton at the famous Pineapple dance studios in Covent Garden and became an ardent Cerocer.

In 1986 Angelique returned to NZ and a couple of years later decided to start Ceroc NZ. She contacted Ceroc owners James & Janie about training and in 1988 returned to London to do as much Ceroc as she could in three months, including some additional coaching from Roger Chin.

The first Ceroc NZ class was in September 1988; in 1990 a dedicated studio was opened at 22 Kitchener Street, Auckland city; in 1994 Ceroc NZ moved to 28 Lorne Street.

Angelique started training teachers early on and establishing franchises, which have now grown to bring Ceroc to the whole of New Zealand.
